On October 10, 2024 our BGCSV Aspires Counselor, Lizbeth Barrera sponsored a field trip for 30 female students from SJHS to participate in a fantastic event hosted by Boys & Girls Club of Silicon Valley.
International Day of the Girl (IDG) is an internationally recognized observance in October dedicated to championing the rights and empowerment of girls everywhere. To celebrate International Day of the Girl, BGCSV is bringing together female leaders in the community to help local girls develop the confidence, courage, and critical life skills necessary to make bold moves and build great futures.
SJHS students were able to participate in the event as well as be matched with a female identifying mentor in a career of their interest for the day to speak to them about what their job is like and participate in fun games too.
