Wresting BVAL League Tournament

Wresting BVAL League Tournament

Last weekend our Bulldog Wrestling teams competed at the BVAL League Tournament at Gilroy High School. All of our wrestlers competed to the best of their ability and represented our Bulldog POWER. This tournament includes every BVAL team, from all levels, and is the first post-season tournament for our Varsity Boys and Girls teams.

JV wrestlers that competed were Manuel Urrea, David Mendez-Perez, Leo Cortinas, Jose Parada, and Giovanni Martinez. They all did a fantastic job and left it all out on the mat. Manuel took 4th place at 108 pounds, Leo took 6th place at 152 pounds, Jose took 6th place at 177 pounds, and Gio took 2nd place at Heavyweight.

Girls competing for our team at the tournament were Alexandra Marquz Armas and Celeste Rodriguez. Both ladies did a fantastic job. Celeste reached the finals of the tournament and ended up in 2nd place, and Alex took 3rd place in her weight class. Both girls have qualified to participate at the CCS Southern Regional tournament held at Watsonville High School this Saturday.

Luis Aguilar, Sela Gelber, and Manuel Gurrola took part in the Varsity tournament, which included top-ranked wrestlers from the state and nation. Sela battled into the consolation semi-finals and came home with a 3rd place medal, and Manny fought hard to come home with an 8th place finish. Both of these wrestlers will also be competing in Watsonville this weekend.

Our four qualifying wrestlers have been training hard all week at Silver Creek High School with other qualifiers from the BVAL as they prepare for the CCS regional tournament. Please wish them look as they pursue their postseason goals. Go Bulldogs!
